Dr. Jason Bond's research interests include the biology and management of Soybean Cyst Nematode, Root-Knot Nematode,  Sudden Death Syndrome, Frogeye leaf spot and other important pathogens in Illinois. Jason teaches Introductory Plant Pathology, Diseases of Horticultural Crops, Epidemiology, Disease Management, and Plant Nematology.





Chris Vick is a Researcher III with a MS degree in soybean pathology.  He has worked in soybean pathology at SIU since 2000.  Chris plants and manages all of the field trials, and is responsible for the foliar fungicide applications and the subsequent disease ratings. He and his wife, Amelia, have a 500 acre grain farm in Alexander county. 



Amelia Vick is a Researcher III, and she has an MS Degree in soil microbiology. Amelia has worked in soybean pathology since 2003. She coordinates and manages the data for the field and greenhouse trials, and she maintains our pathogen collection. 






Cathy Schmidt is a Researcher III, and she has an MS degree in soil microbiology.  Cathy has worked at SIUC since 1985.  Cathy is fortunate to work for 3 research programs... pathology, soybean breeding and genetics, and the canola program.  Among other duties, Cathy coordinates the largest SDS commercial trial in the country, and the manages the Regional SDS trial (public germplasm). 






Randy Lange is a Researcher I, and he has a BS degree in engineering. Randy has worked at SIUC since 2000, and primarily works on nematode trials. In addition, Randy is the "chief tinkerer" of the plot equipment, and quite often can fix the problems created by all the others on this page.
